Track Day

i was lazy in the morning and could not find the desire to get out of bed to do the track workout i had planned. thus, i ended up doing it in the evening. the plan was to do five 1000m intervals (85 sec a quarter pace or about 3:32-3 total) with 200m recovery jog and four 400s (80 sec pace) after that.

i was really dreading doing this after work. started at the gym & warmed up to Austin High (2.2 miles). all the sets of 1000 were a little slow. i just couldn't get into an 85 sec a quarter rhythm -- one lap would be too fast, then one would be too slow, etc. here are the results: 337, 336, 335, 334, and 334. i decided to only do 3 quarters, but they went much better (60 sec recovery in between): 77, 76, and 72. pretty sure i could still bust 60 on the open. ;-)

  1. Sheeeeeeettt! Bust a 60 huh? I still wonder if I can, but too afraid to try. I'll tell you this. Go do 3 or 4 200m repeats at 29 with 200 recovery.

Them tell me how you feel about buisting 60

  2. thing is, would need to do them on fresher legs...with just a warm-up routine before.

think about those track meets you've gone to recently. are you trying to tell me you could not hold it together for one 59.99 or better quarter? assuming that was your only race, i would be willing to bet you could. i think you would be surprised (just like you have been w/ the other track races). just have to fight off that butt-lock the last 50 meters.
