Or is it the other way around? Evening run from the gym. Managed to beat the rain for the most part. I was pretty slow...dunno why. Hopefully, I don't make a habit out of this. 13 miles at 7:46 pace.
I dont want to sound like an arrogant fool here but recovery is key to hard workouts right? Damn, I know I will sound like the lecturer I am but perhaps there are others who read these things who do not realize, every hard-workout damages our muscles. Our torn muscles get repaired and become stronger during the process while we rest. On our non-hard workout days we need to take it easy so the muscles find time to heal and be stronger. Otherwise, yes we seem to get faster at first due to neuromuscular adaptation period where the body learns to use muscles it has not used before but soon after our performance detoriates. I am sorry Damon, I know you know this stuff, I was just doing some really boring stuff so I needed some distraction which this comment provided....

ReplyDeleteyou're good dude. and you bring up some very valid points (all while doing some really boring stuff). :)
ReplyDeletetruth be told, i've been feeling it a bit the last few days. another easy, easy run (on thurs) is prolly just what the dr ordered (so to speak).
